I bought this item from SurrondAir after I purchased one of their home air cleaners from Amazon and loved it. I have asthma and live in Houston, Texas so try to keep the air clean wherever I can, at home and in my car. This product is an ionizer only, there is no filter, but it works great as such. An ionizer creates ions in the air that attach to small particles that float around like dust or pollen. The particles then are big enough to fall out of the air so you don't have to breathe them in. Then you just vacuum or wipe the dust off the surfaces once a week or so. I know it works because in the first week of using it my car surfaces became a lot more dusty than usual. I keep a duster in the glove box to clean it up when I'm stuck in traffic. After the first couple days of use, I didn't notice any smell. There is a fragrance feature that uses scent pellets, but I don't use it. And it is perfectly quiet.

WHEN I GOT IT IT MADE MY TRUCK SMELL LIKE A NEW VEHICLE THE 1ST 2 DAYS. BUT IT'S BEEN 3 DAYS AND THIS MORNING I NOTICED THAT IT SMELLED LIKE SMOKE. I HAVEN'T USED THE AIR FRESHENER BEADS YET, SO MAYBE THAT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
