Remote Doesnt Work Dec 23, 2008 This product has problems in shops with fluorescent lights. They can interfere with the operation of the remote. It does not work in my shop. Unfortunately, this is a well known problem to Jet! They do not have a solution except to turn off the lights to use the remote. They should correct this problem or stop selling the item! Do not mount this anywhere near a fluorescent light fixture.
Should have purchased this a long time ago -- wow! Dec 19, 2008 I really needed an air purifier but held off because it isn't really the sexiest thing to get. But what a difference it makes!
When I first hooked it up, I didn't have any immediate dust-producing projects so I closed the garage door and went to town with my leaf blower. I blew every surface until the room was in a haze of dust. A few hours later the filter was caked with dust and the garage looked much cleaner.
A few days later I left it on while sanding padauk (a very red wood from Africa) and when I was done, I saw that he filter was now caked in red. With the lighting just right, you can actually see the dust gravitating to the unit and getting sucked in.
Anyway, the leaf blower is now an integral part of my wood working. ;-) I leave the air purifier on for everything but when I am done I still blow all the surfaces just to get what I missed in the air, and the Jet AFS-1000B does the rest.
I suspect I will need a new outer filter at some point, but I have had fairly good luck using my vacuum to clean the dust off the surface.

Filter size deception Nov 20, 2008 The Jet cleaner works fine, except the company has fixed it so you must buy their "12x24" filter replacements at $40 to 50 each instead of allowing you to use standard 12x24" filters, which cost about $8. They did this by making their 12x24" filter to an actual size of 11-1/2" x 23-1/2". Since the similar filters, such as from Home Depot, are a true 12x24", they don't fit in the opening. Sneaky, huh? It shows that taking your cash is Jet's most important value.
Remote dead! Heavy, bulky, and still leaves dust in the air. Nov 10, 2008 I've owned it for 5 years, recently found the remote is not working and it is not the battery. Everything else still works. I use it for painting which fouls the pre-filters fast. While this does keep overspray off of everything I'm not painting, it doesn't do a good job of filtering the air in my home-made paint booth, affecting the quality of the finish. If you just want to keep sawdust down in your shop fine, but not that suitable for when you want to do some fine finish work.
Jet Filtration System Oct 31, 2008 This unit is more powerful than the words or picture describe. I have it suspended from the floor joyces in the basement and it truly cleans the air quickly. Well constructed.
